1 Day trip to Lake Nakuru National Park / Lake Naivasha
Early Morning (5:30 AM – 10:00 AM): Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park
The day begins with an early pickup from your hotel in Nairobi. The journey to Lake Nakuru National Park takes approximately three hours, with a stop at the Great Rift Valley Viewpoint for a spectacular photo opportunity. Upon arrival, you will embark on an exhilarating game drive. Lake Nakuru is famous as a rhino sanctuary and for its vast numbers of flamingos (though their numbers fluctuate). You can also spot lions, leopards, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffalo, and a variety of other wildlife.
Mid-day (10:00 AM – 2:00 PM): Game Drive and Lunch
The game drive continues to key viewpoints like Baboon Cliff. You’ll then enjoy a lunch break at a lodge or a designated picnic spot inside the park.
Afternoon (2:00 PM – 5:00 PM): Lake Naivasha
After lunch, you’ll drive for about an hour to Lake Naivasha. Here, the highlight is a relaxing boat ride on the freshwater lake. From the boat, you can get up close to hippos submerged in the water and a rich diversity of birdlife, including African fish eagles. The boat ride may also include a visit to Crescent Island Game Sanctuary, where you can take a guided walking safari among giraffes, zebras, and wildebeest in a predator-free environment.
Late Afternoon/Evening (5:00 PM – 7:30 PM): Return to Nairobi
The day concludes with the drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the early evening.
